First 30-Day Challenge. Giving up TV

January 16, 2009 at 2:20 pm (30-Day Challenges)

A while ago, while I was watching TV. I realized that I have been watching TV mindlessly for around a year now. So, I stopped my subconscious behavioral pattern for a moment, and went to a higher level of consciousness, and asked myself the following questions :

What benefit am I receiving from this excessive mindless TV reviewing ?
How many hours do I waste on a daily basis looking at the screen watching people dance or talk non-sense ?
What are the true rewarding things that I’m “sacrificing” when I watch TV this much ?
And also how many productive things, I could have done, had I not spent this tremendous amount of time watching ?
And finally is this “entertainment method” actually fulfilling? (I.e. am I actually enjoying myself?)

Of course there were lots of other questions which fill this entire pages, but I’d take it you got it the point already, (hell we did!).

After this important realization came up to my consciousness. I decided, to read a little bit about Giving up TV. And I came across an interesting article Steve Pavlina has written, in which he did a 30-day challenge, which means not watching TV for 30 Days..

I finally decided to do this challenge today, and as I have written in my last article Conquering Procrastination, I’m giving up TV for 30 whole Days starting from this very date 5:09 PM 1/16/2009 ..

I’m going to write down a brief explanation of how this challenge will impact my productivity AND my emotional status. So wish me luck .
